Since 1991 the LITERATURHAUS SALZBURG has been one of the major organisations for literature in Austria and in Europe. It serves as meeting place and venue for a great variety of literary events for adults and children and offers various facilities like an evening café and a small library.

Different independent non-profit literature institutions which organize events, readings, workshops and produce literature magazins and books are located in the 400 years old landmarked „Eizenbergerhof“. Every year more than 200 activities with approximately 15.000 guests take place, in the first 25 years more than 300.000 people joined the activities of the Literaturhaus and his institutions.

The head institution in the Literaturhaus, Verein Salzburger Literaturhaus Eizenbergerhof, is responsible for the infrastructure (ticket reservation, promotion, technical equipment etc.) and is the main organizer for exhibitions, children and youths programme, international cooperations and networking. And there are five other literature institutions located in the house: Salzburger Literaturforum Leselampe, erostepost, Salzburger AutorInnenGruppe, Grazer Autorinnen Autorenversammlung/Salzburg, prolit/edition eizenbergerhof.
